Overview
The Inventory Adjustments page allows you to make manual stock corrections and sync them directly to Shopify. Use it for cycle counts, damage write-offs, receiving corrections, or any situation where the system inventory differs from physical stock. Every adjustment is recorded with a reason and synced to Shopify via the InventoryLevel API.
Making an Adjustment
Step 1: Select Product/SKU
Search for and select the product or SKU you want to adjust. The search matches on product name, SKU, or vendor name. Selecting a product shows its current stock level at each location.
Step 2: Select Location
If your store has multiple locations, select which location you are adjusting. The current available quantity at that location is displayed.
Step 3: Enter Adjustment Quantity
Enter the adjustment amount:
- Positive number — Increase stock (e.g., enter
10to add 10 units) - Negative number — Decrease stock (e.g., enter
-5to remove 5 units)
The system shows the resulting quantity after the adjustment (current + adjustment) for confirmation.
Step 4: Add Reason
Select or enter a reason for the adjustment:
| Reason | Description |
|---|---|
| Cycle Count | Physical count revealed discrepancy |
| Damaged | Stock damaged and unsellable |
| Lost | Stock lost or unaccounted for |
| Found | Stock found that was previously missing |
| Receiving Error | Incorrect quantity received from supplier |
| Other | Custom reason (free text) |
Step 5: Submit
Clicking Apply Adjustment will:
- Validate the adjustment (quantity cannot result in negative stock)
- Record the adjustment in the local database
- Sync the new inventory level to Shopify via the InventoryLevel API
- Display a success message with the updated quantity
Shopify Sync
All adjustments are synced to Shopify in real-time using the InventoryLevel API endpoint:
POST /admin/api/2024-01/inventory_levels/set.json
{
"location_id": 12345678,
"inventory_item_id": 87654321,
"available": 42
}
Location-Based Inventory
Inventory is tracked per location. When making an adjustment, you must specify which location you are adjusting:
- Main Warehouse — Primary fulfillment location
- Store Front — Retail location (if applicable)
- Overflow Storage — Secondary storage location
Each location maintains its own available quantity. The Products page shows a breakdown of stock across all locations.
