ALPHA Currency Converter – Privacy Policy

ALPHA Currency Converter (“the App”) provides a tool that allows Shopify merchants to automatically convert product prices to the local currency of store visitors based on their geographic location (“the Service”). This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.

Personal Information the App Collects

When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account, including:

  • Store Information – Store name, store email, store currency, store owner name

  • Product Data – Product prices and pricing rules to apply currency conversion

  • Theme and Script Permissions – To display converted prices on your storefront

Additionally, we may collect the following types of personal information from store visitors:

  • Visitor IP address

  • Browser and device type

  • Time zone and country

  • Language preferences and geolocation (to determine appropriate currency)

We collect personal information directly from store visitors through browser interactions, or using the following technologies:

  • Log Files – Track actions occurring on the App and collect data such as IP address, browser type, ISP, referring/exit pages, and timestamps

  • Web Beacons, Tags, and Pixels – Electronic files used to record information about how users interact with the storefront and conversion features

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

We use the personal information we collect from you and your customers in order to:

  • Provide and operate the currency conversion functionality

  • Detect user location and display prices in the correct currency

  • Improve the accuracy and speed of conversions

  • Communicate with you about app updates or issues

  • Optimize or improve the App and user experience

  • Provide support and respond to merchant inquiries

We do not use your data for behavioral advertising or unrelated marketing purposes.

Behavioural Advertising

We do not engage in behavioral or targeted advertising based on the personal information collected by this App.

Please note that your information may be transferred outside of Europe, including to servers in Canada and the United States, to support the App’s functionality.

Data Retention

We do not retain personal visitor data longer than necessary. IP geolocation data is processed in real time and not stored beyond session requirements. Any store-related configuration data is retained for as long as the App remains installed. Upon uninstallation, we delete all stored data within 30 days, unless legally required to retain it.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons.
